I'm not really a big Mardi Gras person. I've never been (nor do I ever plan to go) to New Orleans and I rarely even note the date. However, on the off chance that I needed a Mardi Gras-worthy topper in a pinch, I needed to have one in my collection. After all, I do live in a community with a big party vibe, so it truly could happen for me. I didn't want anything too flamboyant, but definitely needed to say Mardi Gras to anyone who saw it. This hit the bullseye! The bidirectional fade toned it down a bit for me and yet it's shiny and the gold just pops! Funny how excited I am about a topper for a holiday that means so little to me.
